The more observant may have noticed a new feature which appeared in Pilley Street this week. The Parish Council in conjunction with Hampshire Highways and New Forest District Council have arranged for deployment of a speed limit reminder (SLR) in the Parish. Funding for the project has come from County Councillor Ken Thornber and Boldre Parish Council. The SLR is shared with East Boldre & Beaulieu Parishes so Boldre will have this for four months of each year. It will be placed at sites in Pilley Street, Boldre Lane, Rope Hill, South Baddesley and Bull Hill and, it is hoped, that this might persuade drivers to lower their speeds.

Council & Historical Society at Boldre Fete
Saturday 18th July 2009
Boldre Parish Council & Boldre Parish Historical Society recently joined forces at Boldre Fete. This was the first time this had been done and the stall catered for a large number of visitors. The draft Parish Plan was featured along with a display and photographs depicting the recent upgrade of 'The Shallows' and a series of photographs with the title of 'How well do you know your Parish'. Many people enjoyed guessing where these were taken.

There were also two competitions with the Historical Society running 'Guess the weight of the fruit basket' with the basket being won by Janet Corbin. The Council had a competition to guess the number of registered voters in the Parish and this was won by Gordon Cowie who went home with wine and chocolates. The stall made £36.60, which was donated to Boldre church.
Several Councillors, the Chairman's wife and the Parish Clerk helped out with the event. The Clerk's dog also came along and met Julian Clegg from Radio Solent but unfortunately, did not win in the dog show!
It is hoped that both organisations will be represented again next year at South Baddesley & Boldre Fetes.
